How We Estimate the 2025-2026 Tax Take
Summary
Based on HMRC's outturn for 2024–25 (£857.8 bn, +3.5% year‑on‑year) and the OBR's forecasts—particularly the employer NICs uplift and frozen thresholds boosting receipts in 2025–26—we project HMRC cash receipts for 2025–26 to be around £888 bn. This assumes a repeat of last year's 3.5% growth.
